Jessica Neuman Beck, 33, makes handmade plush toys from home. “The fact that you can stay home with your kids and still have a fulfilling life outside of that and still find creative outlets, I think that’s starting to redefine feminism,” she says. “It’s a new feminist.”
Okay…so it doesn’t have as much to do with crafting as it does with feminism, but it’s still pretty cool to be quoted in a newspaper. Pick up a copy!

Cranky Pals at Milagros
Big news on the Cranky Pals front: Cranky Pals are now carried at Milagros! We love Milagros, and we’re really excited to introduce the Crankies to a whole new audience.
For those of you who are keeping track, that makes two stores that carry the Crankies: LilyToad in the north and Milagros in the northeast. That’s practically everywhere!

Looking for something to make the long summer afternoons go faster? We’ve got a great idea: take a picture of yourself (or your kid, your friend, your partner, your pet…we’re not picky) with your favorite Cranky Pal and get a free Cranky tee shirt!
Send your relatively high-quality image to orders (at) crankypals.com by August 31. Don’t have a digital camera? (Really?) You can snail-mail your image to 519 SW Park Avenue, Suite 601, Portland, OR 97205. Just make sure it’s postmarked by August 31 and you’re good to go. Include your name, shipping address, shirt style (Cranky or Not So Cranky) and size (anything from infant creeper to adult XXL; please specify male or female for adult shirts). And remember, entries become property of Cranky Pals and may be displayed on the site; don’t send a picture if you’re not cool with that!
(Limit one per household, unless you have a good reason for more. Definitely only one shirt per picture.)

Le Jardin
Want to spend some money on a good cause? Le Jardin (I couldn’t find a web site, but there’s a write up in the Portland Tribune ) is the garden-themed benefit for Listen To Kids’ child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault prevention programs. It’s at Montgomery Park in Portland, OR on Thursday, June 21 from 7-10pm. One of our very own BellyButtons shirts (the Spring style, of course!) is featured in an auction box full of goodies from LilyToad . Check it out!

You might have noticed that the Cranky Pals site has a sharp new look, complete with an updated header and bigger, brighter links. We’re pleased as punch about the makeover and are celebrating by adding a brand new Cranky Pal to the lineup. Kreia is quite pink, and has very, very long arms. Not Ecky long, but still pretty long. Check her out and decide for yourself whether she has a secret past as a ninja.
